England Tee minus three days
Around my place it is a flurry of activity and hard pressed decisions. Oh yes, which work clothes to take in case something breaks down? Work clothes is the wrong phrase to use all along. Cause I don't plan on doing any work. I am not afraid of work. I can lay right down beside it and nap. But I like work clothes because they are comfortable. Which boots and shoes to take? Will Hawaiian shirt with the big flowers all over it actually fit in with my new British friends? I tell you this cultural stuff is tricky business. I just never would want to offend anyone.
Only yesterday, I was trying to decide upon the contents of haggis. Strictly from a visual perspective you understand. It can't be bad for you. They have been eating it for years and years. Even before the Romans conquered Britan, short lived as it was, they were eating that haggis. I suppose I will eat it too. I'm a sport.
I expect that if the Britains came to my county here in Kentucky and visited at my house here in Georgetown. They might have more than one reason to pause and consider the meal that I might set in front of them. Oh I am sure it is common enough for us but well, they are from away.
Let's see what's for supper this evening. Big bowl of greens, spinach from the looks of it. Pork tenderloin, fried quick in a hot pan with some garlic, onions, and peppers from the garden. Fresh bisquits, Doc and Mother have conspired together to get me away from the butter, so I guess it will be hot bisquits and margarine. Sad, I wouldn't blame a single soul if they didn't want to eat those bisquits. You really can't have a good meal of spinach greens without a mess of black eyed peas. To top it all off, a glass of nice iced tea. I know, folks in England drink their tea hot, but you can't tell me it don't cool off. If they will try it, I will give a choice sweet or diet tea. Now that's a joke, cause around here most folks just say "sweet or unsweet?"
I expect there are a lot of things that we both do differently. I bet there are a few things that we do the same, like laugh, cry, hope and dream. Folks is folks, we can't be that different.
